Grasping at Eternity by Karen Amanda Hooper

Grasping at Eternity - Karen Amanda Hooper

Grasping at Eternity gave me everything I wanted out of this book and more! If I wasn't already a huge fan of novels about Reincarnation, Grasping at Eternity would make me one. Karen Amanda Hooper adds some twists to the idea that really add to the story and helped keep me interested.

The characters are all vibrant and all have very different personalities. I fell in love with them and really enjoyed finding out more about their past lives. Reading about their past lives got a bit confusing at times, but it made sense for it to be that way. They can't control what body they are reborn into. One life your best friend may be reborn as your brother/sister, the next they may be your father/mother! The one constant is they always had their soulmates. Until Marayah went and screwed that up for Nathan by Erasing that is.

Grasping at Eternity was a wonderful blend of just about everything I love in a story. Romance, Action, history, fantasy and a bit of mystery! I cannot wait to read book #2 and see what happens. Grasping at Eternity left me with my heart racing and dying to know what happens next. I also plan for sure on reading Karen Amanda Hooper's other book  Tangled Tides. I'm curious to see what more this author has to offer and what she does in the world of Mermaids!

The Truth About Forever - Sarah Dessen My favorite of ALL of Sarah Dessen's books. Even as a re read it still gets to me.
Entangled (Spellbound #1) - Nikki Jefford Dang! That is one twisted sister!
Shadows of Glass - Kassy Tayler Review to come!
The Moon and More - Sarah Dessen Sarah Dessen is one of my Favorite YA contemporary authors. That is a very.... very small list. So she should be honored ;) She is on my list of "I will read ANYTHING this woman writes" authors. That's why I picked up The Moon and More. It didn't intrigue me quite as much as my favorites from her ( Lock and key, The Truth About Forever and Just Listen ) But I was like... Dude... It's SARAH DESSEN.

I think I hyped it up a bit much for myself. While I still really enjoyed The Moon and More. I didn't love it. It fell a bit flat for me and I was CONSTANTLY annoyed with the " Love interest " Blech.. Blech.... and more BLECH. But ya know... To each their own. He was just annoying and obnoxious. Over the top and just... really unlikeable to me. I understand that for Emaline it was new and exciting, But within the first few interactions with him I was personally like " Please Emaline.. no, just no." I enjoyed the parts of this story that were NOT about Theo.

I adored Emaline's little brother with his "can do" attitude. I kind of remember being his age and thinking how much I wanted to help out and rushed to be the first one to offer. He was just a super endearing character and he took his family problems in stride, as much as a preteen could. I loved that the main family was a step family, and a HAPPY one. The family dynamic was fun and honest, not always perfect, but still full of love. I really connected with this part of the story, which also made the relationship with Emaline and her " father" tough for me as well. It's hard not to want some kind of relationship with your biological father if he has never really done anything to hurt you. It's not like you as the child have much of a say in his leaving, or how much he is around. I liked how Sarah Dessen tackled this part of the story. Her father isn't portrayed as a bad guy, or the good guy "done wrong" he is just there. Being himself, the good and the bad.

But while I enjoyed parts of the story, the whole was a bit of a let down compared to her other novels. The problem... didn't feel as deep. I know that not all contemporaries need to have a deep problem to be interesting, but I just felt like The Moon and More was a bit empty, lacking in a richness. So while I liked this story. I did not love it. I would, however, still HIGHLY recommend Sarah Dessen's Novels.
Star Cursed - Jessica Spotswood How dare you Jessica! How dare you create such a horrible scene! I mean.. I love you and your writing .. but ... but " cries * and at the end!!!! CAN'T WAIT FOR #3
Legacy - C.J. Daugherty I'm just gonna go cry now :/..... But really, loved this book. It's not paranormal. But a bit on the dark side with intrigue and mystery -and great characters to keep me reading!
Of Triton - Anna Banks OH MY SWEET GOODNESS .. Yupp, that pretty much says it all! Ok. Not really. Full review of it's awesomeness to come!
Triangles - Kimberly Ann Miller It really kept me on edge! Not knowing what was going to happen the next morning was just as nerve wracking for me as it was for the MC Autumn!
The 5th Wave - Rick Yancey The last time I thought to look at the page # I was less than halfway through. Now im finished and.in shock at how quickly it all went by !
Night School - C.J. Daugherty I was expecting something a bot darker. but I enjoyed it nonetheless. 3.5/5
Tempest Unleashed (Tempest, #2) - Tracy Deebs really loved how the story continued. my oh man did I hate that love triangle with a Passion!
The Program - Suzanne Young but but but... I don't want it to be over ! I'm so torn over the ending. but still really liked it ! off to look at the authors other books !
